The Grand Slam USA Hitting Leagues are entering their 24th year of competition. Each year the popularity of the
league grows and the competition gets better. The valuable practice the league provides never stops paying off.
Several of the same teams that make it to the district and regional finals on the baseball and softball fields during the
spring are the same teams seen at Grand Slam over the winter in the hitting leagues. Those swings do pay off!
The Hitting League provides the serious player with an opportunity to keep his/her hitting skills
sharp during the "off-season". If your goal is to win a spot in the starting lineup or to improve your batting average
by 50 points - you'll get the edge on your competition at Grand Slam's Hitting Leagues.
For those not familiar with the Hitting League concept, here's a brief explanation. A
game has seven innings. Each player "bats" every inning and receives six pitches. Points are awarded for line-drives
hit into designated areas of the net, and for successful bunts. Players for each team alternate until the innings are
completes. At the end of the last inning the team with the most points wins. Sounds just like a ballgame to me!
Aside from the obvious fun aspects of the Hitting League, there are tremendous developmental
benefits. We all have observed the "pressure" players experience in game competition. We have also observed how
little players experience pressure in practice situations. The Hitting Leagues create a situation where a player can
practice under "semi-pressure" situations.
Each team consists of 3 players with alternates. League standings and individual
averages are tallied each week. T-shirts are awarded for Team Champions. Grand Slam also provides a FREE AGENT
list, if you would like to play and don't have a team. Call Grand Slam at 614-890-7526 to sign-up or for more information.
Bonus: Pay full league fee by deadline and your team receives $10 in tokens FREE!
